Popular Lock Bodies by Region: A Buyer Map for Europe, Russia, North America, the Middle East and Asia

The same smart lock cannot be sold everywhere, because the lock body hidden in the door edge differs from market to market. Before you choose models for a country, you need to know which bodies you will meet there. This map summarises the typical situation and points to the matching solutions in our range.

Free tool: enter your backset and centre distance in the Lock Body Finder to see which standard your door matches.

Printable: a one-page lock body cheat sheet (PDF).

A word of caution: regions are not uniform. Old and new buildings, wooden and steel doors and different door suppliers all coexist in every country. Treat the table as a starting point and always confirm the fit with photos or drawings.

How to read the table

Backset and centre distance. Many bodies are named by two measurements, for example 6068 for a 60 mm backset and a 68 mm centre distance. Our 5072 rear-lock option is a 50 mm backset with a 72 mm centre distance. Names differ between standards, so see our size conversion table.

Door thickness. Steel entrance doors are often thicker than wooden doors. The B65S lists a door thickness of 40-120 mm, while the D3 deadbolt is designed for 35-50 mm.

Mechanism type. Multipoint locks lock the door at several points and are not the same as a single mortise body. We do not list multipoint systems, so ask us before you promise a solution for such doors.
