If you read spec sheets for smart locks made in China, you may find a line such as “GA374-2019”. It looks like a certificate, but it is a standard, and the difference matters when you source for an export market. This guide explains what it is in plain words and what to ask your supplier.
What GA 374-2019 is
GA 374-2019 is a Chinese public security industry standard for electronic anti-theft locks. The “GA” prefix marks standards from the public security sector. The 2019 edition replaced the earlier GA 374-2001, and it is published as a standard with technical requirements and test methods, not as a product approval.
What the standard covers
Published descriptions of the standard list technical requirements and test methods for electronic locks that must resist burglary. Topics reported for it include appearance, the protection level of the lock housing, functional tests and electromagnetic compatibility. The full text is a paid document, so do not rely on summaries (including this one) for legal or contractual claims. If a project depends on the details, ask for the official text and the test report.
What it does not replace
| Question | GA 374-2019 | CE / RoHS and market approvals |
|---|---|---|
| What is it? | A Chinese industry standard with test methods | Conformity declarations and certificates for specific markets |
| Who asks for it? | Chinese security-product buyers and projects | Importers, customs and retailers in Europe and other regions |
| Is it enough to import? | No, it does not replace destination-market requirements | Requirements depend on your country and product |
In short: a mention of GA 374-2019 tells you the model was designed or tested against a Chinese security-lock standard. It does not tell you that the lock is cleared for your market. CE and RoHS certificates are available on request for our models; ask for the copy that matches your model and batch.
Which of our models reference it
The spec sheets for A60S, A20S and AC26S reference GA374-2019. Other models in the range are documented on their own spec sheets, which you can request. We do not claim a standard for a model unless its sheet states it.
Five questions to ask any supplier
- Which exact model and version does this standard line refer to?
- Can I see the test report, with the test laboratory, date and model number?
- Does the report cover the batch and configuration (language, app platform, lock body) I will order?
- Which CE, RoHS or other documents exist for my target market?
- Who is the legal manufacturer named on the documents?
Our full supplier questionnaire is in the distributor checklist, and the physical security features are explained in Class C cylinders and anti-pry bodies. For documents on a specific model, contact us on WhatsApp.
