North American entrance hardware is more standardised than elsewhere. A single-cylinder deadbolt and a knob or lever on a wooden or steel door of standard thickness is the baseline. That makes the replacement market straightforward, if you check a few measurements.
The standard measurements
- Cross bore: the large hole through the door face, normally 2-1/8 inch (54 mm).
- Edge bore: the hole in the door edge for the bolt, normally 1 inch (25 mm).
- Backset: the distance from the door edge to the centre of the cross bore, normally 2-3/8 inch (60 mm) or 2-3/4 inch (70 mm).
- Door thickness: commonly 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inch (35-45 mm), with thicker doors needing an extension kit.
What the D3 offers
The D3 smart deadbolt is an American-style design for door thicknesses of 35-50 mm. It offers fingerprint, keypad, IC card, Bluetooth app (Tuya) and key unlock, an automatic lock with a delay set in the app and up to 100 passwords. The detail page shows it replacing ball locks and older deadbolts directly. Color options are black and silver. Battery life is listed as up to 6000 unlocks.
Before you order, confirm the bore and backset of your target homes with us. The product data does not list these dimensions, so send a photo or ask for the drawing.
Typical jobs
- Replacing an old deadbolt on a house or apartment door. Check the hole layout and thickness.
- Adding a smart deadbolt next to an existing knob. Common in rentals.
- Replacing a ball lock. The D3 detail page illustrates this.
Features buyers in North America ask for

What we do not list
Our current range does not include knob or lever handlesets in the North American style. If you need a complete entry set, ask us about options. For interior handles, see the wooden interior door guide.
Standards and certificates
US and Canadian markets often ask for ANSI/BHMA grading and local approvals. CE and RoHS certificates are available on request, but we do not list US approvals; discuss your market requirements before ordering.
