Smart Lock Distributor Checklist: 12 Questions to Ask Before You Choose a Supplier

Choosing a supplier is the biggest decision a smart lock distributor makes. Use these twelve questions to compare suppliers on equal terms and to avoid surprises.

Printable: the supplier checklist as a one-page PDF.

Product data

  1. Is the specification complete? Look for dimensions, materials, capacity, battery, standards and packing data, like the tables on our product pages.
  2. Which lock bodies are supported? A supplier should name 68, 5050, 85 or deadbolt bodies and the rear-lock options.
  3. Which app platforms and languages? Ask for Tuya, TTLock and Matter availability per model.

Samples and approval

  1. Can you test a sample on a real door? Fit, enrolment and the app matter more than photos.
  2. Is the sample the same as production? Confirm that firmware, colour and packaging will match.
  3. What is changeable after approval? Settle language, colour and packaging early.

Documents

  1. Which certificates are available? CE and RoHS certificates are available on request for our models; ask for the ones your market needs.
  2. What standards does the spec list? For example, the dual-screen spec sheets reference GA374-2019.

Packing and logistics

  1. What is the carton data? We state 6 or 10 sets per carton with carton sizes and weights so you can plan freight.
  2. How are the sets packed? Colour box, gift box or kraft box affect damage rates.

Support

  1. Who answers questions, and in which language? Mag handles inquiries in English and Russian.
  2. How are installation and fit questions handled? Send photos and we confirm fit using our compatibility guide.

Red flags

  • Specifications without a model number.
  • No lock body information.
  • Photos only, no real-door installation guidance.
  • Unclear packing data.
